For their part, Blackburn go into the Boxing Day encounter against Wigan on the back of a 2-0 home defeat to high flying Tottenham. A goal in each half from skyscraper striker Peter Crouch sealed the deal for Spurs.
Rovers have now gone six games in the Premier League without a victory and manager Sam Allardyce will be rightly worried by the lack of current form. His team have dropped to thirteenth in the league standings and they have nineteen points to their name. More worryingly, though, for Allardyce is the fact that this is only three points ahead of the last relegation spot.
